Gus Poyet is emerging as the favourite to take the Sunderland manager’s job.
When the list of possible names was first put together by bookmakers, Roberto Di Matteo was the favourite, but now since the club have said they are looking for a hands on ‘tracksuit manager’ the odds on Poyet have been slashed.
Now the odds on the 45 year old are as low as evens.
Of course, it does help that Sunderland owner Ellis Short is a known admirer of Poyet and they young manager himself is keen to get into Premiership management.
And Poyet would be able to get through to most of the players in the Sunderland dressing room as he speaks several languages.
