Sunderland will be trying to get the signature of £12 million rated Chelsea starlet Kurt Zouma.
The Chronicle reports that the Chelsea youngster is a loan target of Gus Poyet who will be looking to take the France under 21 international for the whole of next season.
Poyet is looking to bring in a centre-back to his side but missed out on trying to get Ashley Williams from Swansea City recently, with any hope of a possible deal coming to an end on Friday when he signed a new contract with the Swans.
Zouma cost Chelsea £12 million when he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Saint-Etienne in January, with a few believing that he will one day go on to captain his country.
After Jose Mourinho signed the 19 year old, he immediately let him go back to Saint-Etienne for the remainder of the season.
Sunderland`s new sporting director Lee Congerton has contacts at Stamford Bridge and it is hoped that a deal may be struck between the two clubs.
