Sunderland wasted the opportunity of grabbing three valuable points against Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Palace set up their stall to frustrate Sunderland although the home side wasted chances with the biggest culprit being Steven Fletcher who was replaced because of a twisted ankle.

Kagisho Dikgacoi could have really upset the apple cart if he had managed to score late on in the game, but he fired his shot just wide of the target.

Gus Poyet said after the game to reporters: ‘A word you will probably never hear again from me, very calm. I feel calm today.

‘We tried everything. That’s what we are, that’s the team that we have, the players we have got and the way that we need to play.

‘If we play like that, the future will tell if we are good enough to stay in the Barclays Premier League or not.’

Palace travelled to us with the plan to defend. Stick 11 players in the box, and any team will find them hard to break down. Norwich will need to attack, which will means it will be easier for us to score. Just hoping our defence holds up
