Poyet Explains Why Signing Son Was Not On.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has spoken about why he did not sign his son Diego Poyet from Charlton this summer.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined up with West Ham United in July on a four year deal could have come to play for his Dad at Sunderland but Poyet senior chose not to pursue things, as this would almost certainly have caused friction in the dressing room.

The Mirror quotes Poyet as saying: “There was a family issue, I would love to coach him, but at the same time it would be unfair on him.

“Do you think the players on the bench would accept it if I`m playing my son?”
