The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Scunthorpe United and Sunderland Under 23s this Tuesday in the EFL Trophy.

Sunderland’s Under 23 side travel to Scunthorpe United on Tuesday August 29 for the EFL Trophy tie at Glanford Park and the match carries a 7.45pm kick off.

Referee: Darren Drysdale
Assistant Refs: Christopher Ward and Neil Sharp
Fourth Official: David Benton

The Match Day referee has officiated four games in 2017/18, showing seven yellow cards and two red cards already.

He took in 22 games so far in 2016/17, with a return of 67 yellow cards and three red cards.

His highest card count so far that year was nine yellows in the game between Bury and Oxford United.

He took in 34 matches in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 80 yellow cards and two red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Blackburn Rovers and Derby County on October 21 with a total of six yellows being shown. He followed that in his next game between Walsall and Gillingham with another six.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
