Sunderland centre-back, Nyron Nosworthy has described his time at the Stadium of Light as ‘the biggest challengge of his career’.
Having been brought to the North East in 2005 by Roy Keane, Jamaican international Nosworthy has made 103 league starts for the club. However, the 30 year-old has spent the best part of the last two seasons on loan with Sheffield United.
Speaking to The Shields Gazette, Nosworthy said:
“I understand I`m not in the manager`s plans at Sunderland and a loan would be the best idea, but it isn`t as easy as it seems to get a new club.
“People might think you just walk out of one and into another, but it`s not as simple as that, especially in the current situation in football.’
Elsewhere, former Black Cats defender Anton Ferdinand, who only moved on in the transfer window just gone, has bemoaned the lack of faith shown in him by Steve Bruce.
The QPR centre-half, 26, made 76 starts for the club between 2008 and 2011 but was often behind Titus Bramble, Michael Turner and John Mensah in recent seasons.
‘When I did get the confidence from him [Bruce] at the start of the season, then you saw a different me in a Sunderland shirt.
“At the time I thought I`d got the love and credit I deserved at the club, then next thing you know I wasn`t there any more.’ Ferdinand told The Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette
I’d say that there’s a fairly obvious reason for the duo’s lack of opportunities at the club; that being that neither are playing at the level currently required by Sunderland.
