No Bid Made For Fletcher Says Bruce

Steve Bruce has totally denied making an £8million bid for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher claiming that reports are well wide of the mark.

Reports have had it that Bruce is keen on getting Fletcher to the KC Stadium and has been in contact with the Black Cats, placing an £8million bid on the table.

It’s said that Gus Poyet would like to keep the striker at the Stadium of Light, but if the right offer came along he could have his arm twisted into letting Fletch go.

And it’s common knowledge that Bruce wants to add more firepower to his side, but reports it seems, have jumped the gun.

Bruce told talkSPORT: ‘I woke up this morning and saw a story that we`d bid £8million (for Fletcher), I just thought, ‘where on earth have they got that from’? I haven’t got a clue where it’s come from.

‘It’s no secret we want to improve up front,

‘We’ve got a couple of irons in the fire and, if they come off, then it would be fantastic. It would give the squad a lift by adding a striker.’

Scotsman Fletcher joined the Black Cats in August 2012, costing £12million. He has made 44 league appearances scoring 14 goals.
