Arsenal piled the pressure on David Moyes on Saturday lunch time when they pulled Sunderland apart in the game at the Stadium of Light.

The home side managed to hold out until the 19th minute before Alexis Sanchez got in front of defender Lamine Kone to power home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross with his head.

Jermain Defoe then brought down Sanchez in the box but referee Martin Atkinson ruled that there was nothing wrong.

Soon after that, Petr Cech fouled Duncan Watmore and this time the referee pointed to the spot without hesitation. Defoe fired home the penalty and all of a sudden there was hope for the Black Cats.

But Arsenal got a bit upset about the equaliser and soon had the lead again after another short spell of domination, substitute Oliver Giroud fired home to make it 2-1 and soon after that he headed Arsenals third from a Mesut Ozil corner.

The crowd was already on their way to the exits as Sanchez added the fourth from close range and soon after that the stadium looked bare.

Moyes spoke to the BBC after the game saying: ‘Once we get one or two of the injured players back, that will give us some more options and that will give us a better chance.

‘The message is the players are giving everything they can. It was not through the lack of effort, or the lack of trying – they played a team with a lot of quality.

‘We are not in a good position and need to play better. The players are doing their best, but you will only ever be judged by your results.’

Has anyone mentioned the worst ever Premier League start? Oh, they have? We’ll leave it there then.

When they are back what will his excuse be? To be honest I don’t really think that having a full squad will help this clown

I say that he needs time to prove himself, he had a rough time at United but then again so is that tool Mourinho. Moyes was a good, solid manager at Everton and saw them okay season after season. Just a pity he is not a bit more experienced at fighting relegation from what looks to be a hopeless position

Even when our strongest squad is back we will still be weak, there needs to be a bit of buying done in January nomatter what
