Manager David Moyes has said that he’s hopeful Sunderland will see the return of both Lee Cattermole and Victor Anichebe during the March international break.

With Cattermole missing out for the last four months following hip surgery back in November, Anichebe has also been sidelined following a knee injury sustained against former club West Bromwich Albion on his initial comeback.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media on Tuesday afternoon, Moyes admitted he was hopeful that both would return before we enter April and a return to Premier League football as clearly both are assets for us and with ten games remaining in the season with hopes of avoiding relegation, he knew each of them could more than help play their parts in improving our chances of avoiding the drop once again.

‘We hope that Victor could be back and maybe Catts. I think Catts could get some training in but the one we`re really looking to see if we can get back is Victor.’

Moyes went on to say.

‘There are no guarantees but I know Victor`s doing a bit more running and hopefully getting closer. My bigger worry is how can they get a level of match fitness to make a difference and help us in such a short time. I have to hope that we can get them back and give ourselves another dimension, even if it`s getting them back off the bench late on.’

Moyes also admitted that he would be looking at some kind of friendly before the beginning of next week to try and help people along with their fitness levels.

‘I`ll probably play one this week because we have three games in a week coming up and we`ll need the squad of players we`ve got.’
