Sunderland have sold Paul McShane to join Hull City for a fee in the region of £2m.

The Republic of Ireland international has had a torrid time at the Stadium of Light since being signed by Roy Keane two years ago. Last summer, Keane allowed the defender to join Hull on loan, only to be recalled by Ricky Sbragia in January.

McShane becomes the fifth player to be sold by Steve Bruce this summer, following Dean Whitehead, Michael Chopra, Greg Halford and Anthony Stokes out of the club this summer. He`s also unlikely to be the last as Danny Collins, Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards have been discussing moves and Nyron Nosworthy has been linked with a host of different clubs.
