Sunderland`s Paddy McNair looks like being out of action for some time after the club announced today that he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
McNair picked up the injury as the game against Hull City on Saturday approached half-time, but he was not taken off until the 88th minute.
Sunderland said in a statement on their official website: “McNair faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines but will now focus on returning to action as quickly as possible.”
It’s a double blow for the 21-year-old as not only will he miss crucial games for the Black Cats, he will also miss Northern Ireland`s World Cup qualifier against Norway in March.
