The chances of Sunderland starting next season with Simon Mignolet in goal appear to be fading?
Whilst not ruling out a stay at The Stadium of Light his representative recently made it abundantly clear that there’s no chance of a new contract being signed, with that in mind Sunderland could be tempted to cash in this summer.
Liverpool have already seen a reported £7m bid turned down, and will return with an £8m offer. This still falls short of Sunderland’s £10m valuation of the Belgian international, however it’s now believed that a “compromise” will be reached with The Reds and Mignolet will be plying his trade at Anfield next season?
Sunderland would ideally love to keep him long-term but look like making quite a profit on the £800,000 paid a couple of years back.
