West Brom centre-back Joleon Lescott felt that he was hard done by after receiving a yellow card for his trip on Danny Graham.

The game was only five minutes old and Sunderland felt that the Ex-Everton and Manchester City man should have been shown a red card for his efforts.

Instead, referee Mike Jones outraged the Sunderland bench by only showing him the yellow card.

But despite clear contact, Lescott protested his innocence after the game when he spoke to the Birmingham Mail: “At the time I didn`t think I touched him.

“I had a chat with the officials at half time and they said they hadn`t been able to look at it again, but people were saying at half-time ‘I pulled him` and ‘I tripped him` and I thought ‘well, which one was it?`.

“For me, I didn`t feel there was contact made.’
