Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been giving his thoughts following defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, and he felt that Sunderland could take positives from the game.

With manager David Moyes commenting that he felt there were plenty of positives on show in the game and how he was focused on ensuring that was the basis of all performances for the rest of the season to ensure we got that luck that saw our form in front of goal change with the woodwork again helping our opposition – Click Here – Pickford was interviewed by the Official Site, and although he was pleased to make his Stadium of Light return following injury, taking credit for some of the saves he pulled off across the game, the overall team performance and the confidence he felt the team should take from the match was his overriding concern.

Beginning with his thoughts on his own performance following the two nil loss, he explained.

‘It`s good to be back in the team. I had some rustiness in the last game but I`m feeling good again and I`ll keep working hard. As a unit we worked well together against Manchester City; we were quite compact and we did our jobs, but unfortunately we conceded two goals.’

Pickford went on to say that what was important now though was that Sunderland put in that kind of work ethic for every game we play in the remainder of the season because if we do that, he’s confident results will come our way.

‘The work rate from the lads was top drawer and if JD`s shot goes in off the post it could have been a different story, but unfortunately they got the goal just before half-time which was a killer to our game plan. We stuck together and tried to go out and get something from the game in the second half, and we worked hard as a team so we can take positives from it. We`ll keep working hard as a team on and off the pitch and hopefully we can start getting the results we need.’
