Home win at last!

Sunderland finally recorded their first Premiership home win of the season at the final attempt as they beat Fulham 2-1 tonight.

Goals from Chris Brown and Anthony Le Tallec meant the Wearsiders avoided becoming the first team in English league history to end a season without a home win.

A recalled Andy Welsh put in a decent performance and set up the opener with a cross that was headed into the net by Le Tallec on 32 minutes for his 5th goal of the season.

Justin Hoyte missed a great chance to double the lead when he trod on the ball from Nosworthy’s cross but Chris Brown made no mistake 10 minutes after half time after another effort from Nosworthy was parried by Crossley.

Radzinski pulled one back for Fulham with 15 minutes remaining with a curling shot from the edge of the box, and the home crowd sensed another capitulation, especially when Collins John came within inches of an equaliser when his shot landed just the wrong side of the post.

Sunderland held on however and finally registered a home win this season, hopefully a sign of better things to come at the Stadium of Light.

Well done. Nothing worse than to have no wins at home al season. At least it came near the end, which i supose is better than in the first game and then going the rest of the seaon without winning. Good luck next season.

I am glad too, because I was a co-sponsor of and at your last Premiership home win (against the current Euro Champs) Liverpool. To think you missed a penalty that day as well and then never beat anyone for about 28 home games is phenomenal. My Sunderland mate and I were thinking of writing to the club to get us back to change your Home fortune, but now it seems we are not needed. This win coupled with a different status next season. Anyway come back and join us soon.
