Don’t Panic Warns Quinny

You would think signing eight new players would please any club during a busy transfer window, but the main problem is the main players have yet to be replaced.

Losing both Cana and Jones has made the spine of the team a lot more fragile and with certain players having suspensions and injuries the need to improve our squad is clear to see.

Bruce has said he wants to add a few more players, even Darren Bent has spoke about the importance of adding to the team in order to finish in the top but yet nothing seems to be happening on he transfer front.

Quinny spoke today to show they are working hard behind the scenes but will not be forced by worried fans and average performances this season.

Quinn said: ‘There may be room for one more in and there have been some enquiries for one or two of our players too,’ the Irishman told the club’s official website.

‘But I will not panic in the last week of the window. I’ll never lead the club into choppy waters financially, and if there is something right for us we’ll do it.

‘Steve Bruce knows that and if something crops up we’ll do it, but if people are thinking last-minute madness is going to affect us, that’s not going to happen.’

Sunderland fans appreciate that Quinn has completely changed the club around in his spell as chairman and has seen Newcastle create their own problems through bad dealings with players and wages. It is important that we keep the club steady in bad economical times but if we want to break into the top ten these risks may need to happen by Tuesday.

If Sunderland can get rid of high wage earners like Tainio, Ferdinand, Bardsley, Healy then this will free up more cash and allow a big name to enter the fray.

With Birmingham having their latest bid for target N’Zogbia turned down today it is clear Sunderland do not value him at £10m so they need to look elsewhere.

If we can add a midfielder and a well known striker to play alongside Bent we could have one of the strongest teams in a long time of supporting this club. Failure to replace Jones and Cana could cost us dear and result in yet another season struggling at the bottom.
