Cattermole was subbed with 20 minutes remaining as he signalled to the bench that he could not continue. Catts had just returned from a hamstring injury and his departure on Tuesday night looked like the only negative of the evening.
However, reports in the media seem to show he is fine for the City clash and he seems to have a habit with Sunderland as he returned last time in the 4-3 defeat at Eastlands.
The game seems to be too early for Andy Reid and Jordan Henderson but he will be able to call on Malbranque and Campbell if required and hope that Richardson can shake off his ankle injury by the weekend also.
