Striker Frazier Campbell is set to hand Steve Bruce some much-needed good news on the striking front.

The former Manchester United trainee is set to return to first-team training next week, three months ahead of schedule.

Having damaged his cruciate ligaments in April, the 24 year-old was expected to return to training in February of next year.

However, having lost Connor Wickham for six weeks, Campbell has handed Bruce a boost.

“We`re hoping Fraizer will be able to join in training with the rest of the squad by the end of next week.

“We`d then be looking to organise a couple of behind-closed-doors games here at the training ground so he can test himself in a match situation.

“He`s has got a great mentality. He has worked so hard to get fit and done fantastically well to be three months ahead of schedule.’ Bruce told The Chronicle Live

Things looking up at last for Frazier.
