Sunderland manager David Moyes picked up a touchline ban last night which will keep him from the dugout at Bournemouth this weekend.

Moyes admitted a misconduct charge after being sent off late on in the game against Southampton recently.

At the time he did not agree with referee Chris Kavanagh about a decision not to award his side a penalty in the League Cup game against the Saints. Victor Anichebe was brought down in the box by Maya Yoshida and the Black Cats received nothing.

This was Moyes’ signal to go on a swearing rampage at the fourth official while not in his technical area.

As well as a one-game ban, he was fined £8,000 after not wanting to appeal the charge.

A statement on the fa.com read: ‘David Moyes will serve an immediate one-match touchline ban after he admitted using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official and accepted the standard penalty.

‘The incident happened in or around the 90th minute of Sunderland’s EFL Cup fixture at Southampton on 26 October 2016. ‘As well as the suspension, the standard penalty for this breach of FA Rule E3 also includes an £8,000 fine.’

Might stand more of a chance this weekend then.
