When Brendan Galloway arrived at Sunderland from Everton earlier this week it was expected Tyias Browning would join him.

That wasn’t the case… until today when Browning against linked up with Black Cats boss Simon Grayson.

Having worked with Grayson at Preston last season the defender will do so again at the Stadium of Light after joining Sunderland on loan for the campaign as our friends at Vital Everton inform us:

Tyias Browning will link up with the familiar faces of several former Everton players – in fact a current one too – as the England U21 international has joined Sunderland on loan.

Browning, who worked with new Sunderland boss Simon Grayson during a spell at Preston last season, will spend the upcoming campaign at the Stadium of Light.

Whilst at Sunderland Browning will work alongside former Toffees Bryan Oviedo, Darron Gibson and Jack Rodwell as well as Brendan Galloway, who joined the Black Cats on loan earlier this week.

Ahead of his temporary move to Preston last season Browning, 23, signed a new contract at Everton keeping him at Goodison Park until 2019 – he’ll look to gain further first team experience with the Championship club.

Browning has made nine appearances for Everton since making his Blues debut in September 2014.

The arrival of Browning will be one of these Grayson had highlighted was needed after the pre-season victory over Bury on Friday evening.
