As rumoured in many tabloids and on Vital Sunderland it looks as though a bid has been offically made by Sunderland AFC for Matthew Upson.

It seems £7m for a 31-year-old is a bit steep but he is a proven Premiership player with a lot of quality to give to our club alongside Turner.

It will not be that price due to the money Michael Chopra gave us for being at Cardiff and we could also off-load other players to lower the cost.

If Sunderland do purchase Upson they will have a very strong and experienced defence with Mensah, Upson, Da Silva, Turner, Ferdinand all looking for starting positions under Bruce.

We will keep you updated if anything changes or if the offer is accepted or declined.
