Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has decided to accept a new four year deal that will tie him with the club until 2018.

Pickford first started at Sunderland as an eight year old in 2002 and went on to sign a two year scholarship in 2010.

He shone in the U21 side and has spent time on loan at Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion and Carlisle United.

Pickford told reporters: ‘Last season was massive for me. I played games at Burton and at Carlisle, which was a great experience.

‘I want to keep developing and working hard and I’m delighted to sign a contract with the club I have always supported.’
