Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has been criticized by his Sunderland and International teammate Dwight Yorke.

Yorke believes Jones has to score more goals a season for him to become one of the top players in the Premier League.

Yorke told the Sunderland Echo “Drogba scores 20-plus goals every season and that is what Kenwyne has to do. Until he starts doing that, he shouldn’t get carried away.”

“But seven goals in the Premier League! He needs to improve on that next season.”

“Seven goals is a start, but next season he’ll need to double it or even triple it.”

Vital Sunderland Says

Yorke is right Jones does need to up his goal scoring ratio. I my opinion it`s the only thing he needs to improve on as his overall play is fantastic.

He looked ok in his first season in the Premiership. Have to agree with Yorke though a forward gets judged on how many goals he scores.

I really like Kenwyne Jones as a player, but he hasn’t really had a good strike partner. Yes he needs to score more goals, but that was his first premiership season, and adjustment is required. I would say Sunderland need to find a striker in the Michael Owen mould to partner him – but I won’t! Anyway, the point is he needs someone who is making the runs and making openings for him… you know what I mean???
