Sunderland`s current injury problems continued as it was confirmed that full back Stephen Wright would be out until after xmas.

‘Wrighty has had an operation and will be out until Christmas,’ boss Roy Keane told the club’s official website.

The former Liverpool right back injured his ankle during the cup shock away at Bury last month, and has been forced to undergo needs surgery to correct the problem. Despite Rory Delap, Nyron Nosworthy and Neil Collins all available to play at right back, the fact that Dean Whitehead may play there on Saturday suggests that Keane has not yet decided on his first choice right back, and Wright will be disappointed at not being able to stake a claim.

Wright has had a torrid year, playing only 4 games, due to a succession of injuries that have kept him out of the side.
