Wolves have denied that they have accepted an improved offer of £12m for striker Stephen Fletcher, despite rumours to the contrary.

Sunderland were understood to have lodged an improved bid of £12m for the Scottish international which had been accepted.

However, Wanderer’s CEO Jez Moxey has come out to state otherwise:

“Rumours that we have accepted a bid from Sunderland are incorrect. They want the player, but we haven`t accepted anything,’ Moxey told the Wolverhampton Express & Star.

Sunderland are in dire need of another striker with Frazier Campbell, believed to be a target for Blackburn Rovers, the most senior of their three first-team forwards by some distance.
