Sunderland conceded a late goal from Zaki to leave the JJB with one point instead of all three.

Sunderland gave debuts to the former West Ham duo of Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney.

The game hadn`t been in play long when Sunderland found themselves in front. Titus Bramble (Oh isn`t it a shame he doesn`t still play up the road) heading past his own keeper from Malbranqe cross.

Gordon made a cracking save from Boyce in the first half when Boyce found himself through on goal after some lacks defending for Chimbonda. Gordon managed to tip it out for a corner.

Sunderland then had a good chance from Cisse his shot going narrowly wide after he latched onto a good long ball.

The second half saw Cisse through on goal with only Kirkland to beat but the Frenchman`s shot was saved well by the young Keeper.

Wigan then produced another good stop from Gordon as he denied a goal ward bound 25 yard shot from Kapo.

Wigan then nearly scored an equaliser for the resulting corner Zaki heading against the post after some good build up play.

Wigan then got their equaliser through Zaki the ball found it`s way into the box for him to tap home.

Craig Gordon – Made a few vital saves and had it not been for him we could have easily lost.

Match Comment
If someone had offered me a draw before the game started I would have took it so I`m quite pleased with the result. It`s just a shame we gave another sloppy goal for their equaliser.

Wigan fan in peace, to be honest I was dreading this game because Sunderland are a decent side and got a great result at Spurs. I am happy with a draw against Sunderland because in truth, I can see many teams falling to Sunderland this season – they’ve got a very good squad.
