Sunderland made sure they dusted off more pre-season cobwebs and new signing Connor Wickham scored his first goal in a red and white shirt.

Steve Bruce named a very strong team as Westwood and Brown made their debuts and Gyan played his first pre season game this season.

Stephane Sessegnon continied where he left off in Germany with another great goal before half time with a mazy run and strike from 16 yards. That makes it three goals so far and he is living up to his reputation before the real action gets underway.

Gyan, Brown and Malbranque were all replaced at the same time Kilmarnock scored a free-kick to equalise.

Substitutes Wickham, Ji Dong-Won caused problems for the Scottish Premier league opponents and Connor ended up grabbing the winner in the final 15 minute.

Elmo drilled a low ball in to find the English striker, who tapped the ball past Jaakoola from yards out. The Sunderland fans celebrated his first of many as this helps to build his confidence as the real work will begin soon.

A good run out for the lads who prepare for their next game against Burnley on Saturday with Gyan looking lively and Brown and Westwood also looking comfortable.
