Wes Brown was back in action again after recovering from a knee injury when he played 45 minutes of Sunderland’s U 21’s win at Everton on Monday.

Brown was returning after picking up his knee problem during the game against West Ham at the Boleyn Ground towards the end of March.

The 35 year old spoke to the club’s official website saying that he was keen to get back into first team action.

He said: ‘It was good to get back in the swing of things, It was a positive 45 minutes and the more players we get back for the remaining four games the better.

‘It is very important because we have some very big games coming up, but it was a very good result on Saturday against Southampton and it is something we can build on.”
