Unfortunately Duncan Watmore isn’t going to be the saviour for Sunderland as he’ll not play a part in our Premier League survival bid but that didn’t stop him from saving three people in Barbados.

Watmore, currently recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in December, has seen various reports today reveal how he rescued the holidaymakers in February.

The Sunderland forward happened to be on a fishing boat when a catamaran ‘ploughed straight into the boat and ripped it in half’ leading to Watmore’s heroics as he pulled the elderly people to safety.

His father, Ian Watmore, told the BBC.

‘They saw it and just assumed it was going to go round them and, when they realised it was coming straight at them, they started yelling and screaming but nothing changed. These catamarans are quite powerful and the blade just ripped the thing in half.’

Adding.

‘All the guests were coming up to him and telling him what a hero he was and I think the whole thing was just very disorientating for him.’

When David Moyes told the 21 year old to ‘go away for a break’ before starting his rehab this wouldn’t have been what the Sunderland boss had planned – fortunately it didn’t cause any further damage to Watmore’s knee and allowed him to play Superman!
