Watch Out Blackburn Rovers

The league shows Sunderland sitting comfortable in the Premier league with eight points after seven games. Now some may argue that is hardly a great return of points but we have had one of the toughest opening fixture schedule I can remember.

We have only won the one game this season against Manchester City and we are currently on an unbeaten run of five league games.

The past two performances have really seen Sunderland turn a corner in effort and team spirit and I firmly believe this could be the start of a great season.

We completely outclassed Liverpool at Anfield, only for a referee to stop us from claiming a famous victory. We kept this great display going against Manchester United a week later and found ourselves disappointed with only getting a point against them!

The international break could not come at a better time as we re-group and head for Ewood park in two weeks time. The squad is getting used to each other and partnerships are being created all around the pitch. The defence seems to be as strong as we have ever seen and we have two brilliant keepers fighting amongst themselves over the number 1 shirt.

By the time the break is over we will have only two main players injured. Angeleri who is still taking his time to get over his injury and adapt to the English lifestyle. We also have David Meyler who has recently returned to light training.

This is the first time in a long time we have nearly a full team to select from and challenge for a top 10 slot in the league.

We have to ensure our attitude and desire remains the same against the more closer teams such as Blackburn. Failure to beat the lower placed teams would mean all the hard work against the elite was wasted.
