Newly promoted Sheffield United are said to be interested in bringing Sunderland striker Jon Stead to Bramall Lane.

The former Huddersfield and Blackburn striker scored only once last time and at times suffered a torrid time in front of goal. However often his all round play was promising and it is widely believed that he could play a big part in a promotion push back to the Premiership this season.

However Neil Warnock is reportedly interested in bringing the 23-year old striker to Sheffield as he looks to strengthen his squad for their forthcoming season in the top flight following automatic promotion from the Championship last season.

Warnock refused to be drawn in on any potential targets however,

?I am continually asked if I fancy this player or that player and I know that will continue, but I’m determined not to comment on any player until I have signed him,? he told the official Blades website.

Stead joins Arca, Alnwick, Lawrence and Whitehead on the list of players linked with moves away and with major restructuring of the club planned with Niall Quinn?s imminent arrival as chairman, it remains to be seen whether moves for these players will be sanctioned.
