But a report on the Chronicle live website says that Sunderland’s number one choice is not too worried what Pickford gets up to as he is fully concentrating on his own performances between the sticks.
Mannone received the vote of confidence from manager Sam Allardyce who make the keeper his first choice after the departure of Costel Pantilimon to Watford.
And the Italian is determined to keep his place for the end of season run-in where Sunderland are fighting to stay in the top flight once again.
“It`s good to make the goalkeeper work,” said Mannone.
“At any club I`ve been, there`s been capable keepers around me. But I`m focused on me, really.
“Jordan has got a big future, but I want to help the team and club stay in the Premier League.”
Pickford will be moving Mannone aside very soon. Maybe next season
