West Brom increased the pressure on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with a 3-1 win at the Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime. Albion’s victory took them well clear in eighth with the Gunners’ fourth defeat in five leaving a Champions League finish in major doubt.

A third successive Crystal Palace victory took them four points clear of the relegation zone. Watford’s 1-0 defeat at Selhurst Park was a third in four and leaves the Hornets looking over their shoulder.

Everton scored three late goals against 10 man Hull to record a 4-0 win at Goodison Park that took the Toffees – albeit having played three games more – above Manchester United into sixth and level of points with Arsenal in fifth. City remain in the bottom three a place and three points from safety.

A late goal saw Stoke – who finished with 10 men after an added time sending off – beaten by champions elect Chelsea. A goal three minutes from time saw the Blues to a 2-1 win at the bet365 Stadium to open up a 13 point lead at the time.

Bottom of the league Sunderland had to be content with a 0-0 draw against Burnley at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats are now seven points from safety whereas the Clarets are still awaiting that elusive away win but would be the happier of the sides.

A dominant second half performance from West Ham wasn’t enough for the Hammers to claim anything from a five goal thriller with Leicester. This 3-2 win at the London Stadium made it three in a row for the Foxes with a six point gap on the bottom three opened up.

Bournemouth’s unbeaten run was extended to three with the 2-0 victory over Swansea – making it back-to-back wins – in the late kick off on Saturday that took the Cherries clear of relegation trouble. The Swans’ third defeat in four saw them down to 17th but they do hold a three point advantage over Hull.

The sacking of Middlesbrough didn’t make a difference as second bottom Boro’s winless run was extended to 10 with Manchester United recording a 3-1 victory at the Riverside Stadium. United’s win took them above both Everton and Arsenal into fifth.

A 10th successive Tottenham home win was secured when Spurs beat Southampton 2-1 to reduce the lead Chelsea have to 10 points once again heading into the international break. The Saints had been looking for a third straight win but remain 10th after this defeat at White Hart Lane.

Manchester City rescued a point at the Etihad Stadium against Liverpool but a 1-1 draw means third placed City are now 12 points behind Chelsea and almost certainly out of title contention – not that anyone is likely to catch the champions elect now. The Reds hold a four point advantage over Manchester United in the final Champions League spot.
