Turner undergoes Norwich medical

Sunderland defender Michael Turner looks set to become a Norwich City player as he undergoes a medical at Carrow Road this afternoon.

The 28 year-old defender, who cost Sunderland £4m in 2009 when he joined from Hull City, is surplus to requirements with Carlos Cuellar already boosting Martin O’Neill’s options at centre-back.

Despite injury to Wes Brown, O’Neill still has John O’Shea, Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon at centre-back, leaving him with five players competing for two slots.

Since signing under previous boss Steve Bruce, Turner has made 77 appearances as a Black Cat, but his progression has been hampered by a series of injuries during his three years on Wearside.
