Sunderland are hoping that they can clinch a deal with Tottenham that would bring Andros Townsend to the Stadium of Light.

The 24 year old has not been getting a look in at White Hart Lane at the moment after a fall out between himself and club coach Nathan Gardner.

The only appearance Townsend has made was in the game against Anderlecht in the Europa League in October.

Without first team football, Townsend fears for his chances to play in Euro 2016.

Now the Independent are reporting that Townsend will go to the Stadium of Light and with the move he will also get a rise in pay from the £40,000 he is on now at the moment.

Which would be a significant cost to Sunderland who would have to be looking at a fee of around £14 million unless Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy agrees to a loan which is unlikely.

Also said to be interested in the player are Watford, Newcastle, West Brom and Aston Villa.
