Takeover stalling? Quinn says no!

Earlier reports that four of Niall Quinn’s consortium members were pulling out of a deal have been denied by the big man himself.

Quinn spoke on Sky Sports News this evening to confirm that talks have gone well and that the period of Due Dilligence is now over. He denied claims made by the Sunderland Echo that four of his team of eight members, namely Sean Mulryan, Paddy Kelly, Tom Moran and Pat Power, had pulled out of the deal after failing to appoint a suitable manager.

Quinn revealed that he was disappointed by these false reports and felt the need to come out publicly and dispel these rumours, to the delight of Wearside! Even better news was that the Irish legend confirmed that he hopes that a deal can be concluded very soon and that he only ‘needs one answer’. It can be expected therefore that a bid will be lodged in the next 48 hours.

It’s the news that all Sunderland fans have been waiting a long time for. And after a few scares, none worse than today’s (why did the Echo publish these reports?), we may finally be coming to a glorious end. Wearside breathes a sigh of relief!
