b>Sunderland’s new partnership with shirt sponsors Invest in Africa will make them the best-known club in the continent, according to a partner of the venture.
Aidan Heavey of Tullow Oil, a partner to the scheme, told The Sunderland Echo that the link up will see the Black Cats become huge in Africa.
Heavey said of the new partnership:
“We are trying to change perceptions about Africa and this is the perfect way to get the message across globally that Africa is a place which is not just surviving but in so many cases thriving.’
He continued: “Mark my words, Sunderland will be the best known club in Africa over the next few years.”
The new deal will go a long way towards achieving Niall Quinn’s dream of making Sunderland a worldwide brand – something which can only do the club good.
Continued links with the Far East are in place with a pre-season tour and of course, striker Ji Don-Won on the books.
Slowly but surely, Sunderland are tapping into more and more global markets.
