Sunderland managed to take all three points from the game against Leicester City on Saturday, but victory could have come at a price.

Boss David Moyes was forced to admit that the injury picked up by Duncan Watmore ‘doesn’t look good’. Watmore was taken off on a stretcher after getting into a challenge for the ball with Christian Fuchs.

Watmore suffered a knee injury and Moyes told Sky Sports after the game: ‘We’ll need to get it assessed properly and find out exactly what it is, but it doesn’t look good for him at the moment.

‘I hope I’m wrong, I hope by the time we get it checked it’s not what they think it is.

‘It’s disappointing as we’ve lost Paddy McNair and Lynden Gooch – two young players who have been getting a bit of game time. Duncan has been a big part of the first team and it would be a big blow.’

Things were looking well for the Black Cats, luck was on their side for a change when Robert Huth turned the ball into his own net for the opening goal and Jermain Defoe kept Sunderland just ahead of the Foxes with the second goal on 77 minutes.

Three minutes later Leicester pulled one back through Okazaki, but it made no difference to where the points went.
