Sunderland vs Man Utd: Early Squad News


Sunderland go into the game with Manchester United this weekend without the services of defender Younes Kaboul and striker Duncan Watmore.

Both the players are suffering with ankle ligament injuries and midfielder Jeremain Lens is a doubt after complaining of a hernia problem.

Full-back Billy Jones is still struggling with a hip injury and the game is not likely to see Sebastian Larsson returning, although he is back on light training duties.

Striker Fabio Borini is available after missing the trip to Liverpool because of a virus.

Manchester United start proceedings with eight first team players out of the picture.

Luke Shaw (leg), Marcos Rojo (shoulder), Antonio Valencia (foot), Bastian Schweinsteiger (knee) and Ashley Young (groin) all remain on the sidelines.

There are also players having an eye kept on them such as Phil Jones, Adnan Januzaj and Guillermo Varela. They all left the field early with injuries from a game with Norwich in the u21’s.

Striker Will Keane hit five goals in the 7-0 win against Norwich and that has earned him a place in the squad that travels to the Stadium of Light.
