If Gus Poyet has any ideas of signing Brighton duo Liam Bridcutt and Will Buckley, it looks like he might have a long fight on his hands.

The south coast outfit have said that they have rejected a transfer request from Bridcutt, who is angling for a move to Sunderland to team up once again with his old manager Gus Poyet after it was reported that the Sunderland boss was interested in the pair.

At first, Brighton wanted to remain quiet about the matter but then they issued a statement on their official website which read:
“Further to reports in the media, Brighton & Hove Albion can confirm that a transfer request from Liam Bridcutt was received (Tuesday) afternoon and subsequently has been rejected by the club.

“At this stage the club does not wish to make any further comment on this matter.”

Poyet is remaining silent about any potential targets he has in mind.

I have no doubt that we will end up signing Bridcutt, Brighton cant MAKE him play to his full potential if he heart isn’t in it
