Sunderland stormed to a 4-1 victory at Carrow Road tonight, but the victory could be marred because of an injury to Fraizer Campbell.

Teemu Tainio and an Andy Reid brace gave Sunderland a 3-0 lead at half time. Wesley Hoolahan briefly got the Canaries back into the contest, but Owain Tudur-Jones put the ball in his own net to secure the victory for the Black Cats. Both teams could have added to their tallies though, as Fraizer Campbell and Carlos Edwards hitting the Norwich bar, while Craig Gordon made a couple of fine saves to deny the hosts.

Michael Spillane was sent off late for Norwich, pushing Campbell to the ground as he burst through on goal. However, Canaries keeper Ben Alnwick was sliding to collect the ball and collided with the falling Campbell. Alnwick appeared to have a cheek injury, whereas Campbell`s left arm was in a sling as he departed from the field.

The victory puts Sunderland in the draw for the third round, with what was on paper a convincing victory. However, Norwich more than held their own against a team two divisions above them, playing some good football throughout and creating a few good scoring opportunities.
