Sunderland manager furious

Sunderland manager Roy Keane is furious at referee`s Steve Bennett`s decision to disallow Danny Collins injury time winner.

Keano told safc.com “It was a good header and a goal, I don’t know why the referee has disallowed it. I don’t know what it’s for, I’m sure he’ll come up with something.”

“It’s frustrating, I don’t think I will cool down until Tuesday or Wednesday.”

“The players and supporters deserve better. I always try to be fair to referees but I don’t know why he has given the foul.”

“We’re talking about the referee when we should be talking about two good teams who had a good go at each other. It was a good Premier League game.”

“He was ready to give the foul even before anyone went near anyone else. Sunderland fans deserve better. It’s the most frustrated I’ve been as a manager.”

“It was a good, honest game. Villa are a good team but we hung in there and defended well against lots and lost of crosses.”

“We gave a sloppy goal away. We lost possession softly in the middle of the park and we were punished, as you often are in the Premier League.”

“But I always felt that we would nick it at the end and we did.”

“I spoke to Mark Hughes five or six weeks ago about referees and I said that I’d been OK with them. He said, “‘That’ll change’. He was spot on.’

Keane`s right to be grieved we deserved to win the game. I think they need to bring in some kind of video evidence like they do in Rugby.
