Sunderland have been rumoured to be interested in Newcastle`s diving expert Steven Taylor.

With Arsenal, Manchester City, Portsmouth and Tottenham all also monitoring his situation, many Sunderland fans will hope he ends up going elsewhere. Taylor is a lifelong Newcastle fan, so it would be doubtful that he would make the move in any event and let`s hope that that is the case.

However, a source close to Taylor told the Telegraph: “Steven wants to stay, but, like many players and fans, he is concerned by the uncertainty surrounding the ownership and managership of Newcastle United,”

“Having supported the club all his life, he was devastated on the final day of last season. However, he was hopeful that Alan Shearer would be swiftly appointed, and he could start to rebuild ahead of a huge season for the club.”

“Steven gave Alan his word that he would stay he if was to take charge on a full-time basis, and nothing has changed. He wants to help the club back into the Premier League, and he firmly believes Alan is the man to take the club forward.”

“However, if Alan were not to be named the club’s next manager, then he would have to review the situation.”

Sunderland have also been linked with Taylor`s team mate Habib Beye, with West Ham and Everton also said to be interested.

This is just a Press fabrication, yes? If Sunderland expect to attract top players as the club progresses then Taylor doen’t even qualify as a Reserve Team player.
