Sunderland linked with former Red Devil

Molde boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is perhaps the most left-field name being linked with the Sunderland job.

The former Norway and Manchester United striker has been hugely successful back in his homeland in his first managerial appointment and was linked with Portsmouth.

Pompey eventually plumped for Michael Appleton, but according to Footy Latest, Solskjaer could be the man Ellis Short chooses to lift the club out of the doldrums.

In his first full season as Molde boss, Solskjaer led his side to the Norwegian Tippeligaen title.

Limited managerial experience certainly counts against the former United hitman, but he has youth and fresh ideas on his side. It’s certainly a case of ‘watch this space’ as more and more names will be linked the longer the post remains vacant.
