Reports are today linking Sunderland with Blackburn Rovers winger-cum-forward, Junior Hoilett.

The 21 year-old Canadian winger is out of contract at the end of the current campaign. And, after Rovers were relegated last night, their star man is set to move on.

Martin O’Neill is just one of a number of managers looking to take advantage of Hoilett’s contract status, with London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal also waiting in the wings.

Seven-goal Hoilett would be the perfect solution to the Black Cat’s wide midfield problems and would offer genuine competition to Sebastian Larsson down the right hand side.

Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan says he expects to move on as no contact has been made between O’Neill and the Ghanaian.

Gyan has admitted that he waited for a phone call but ‘no call came.’

Hard luck mercinary.
