Sunderland are waiting patiently to see if Jan Kirchhoff will be able to shake of a hamstring injury in time for the Black Cats next game in a fortnight.

Before then, then, Allardyce has his players on the plane for a mini break in the sun doing warm weather training, giving Kirchoff and other injured players a better chance of recovery.

Also on the injured list are Jeremain Lens (groin), Younes Kaboul and Duncan Watmore (ankle), Sebastian Larsson also needs a little time after he just returned to training after missing the last two months action with a knee injury.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Allardyce said: ‘Lens has just had a hernia op. There’s Kaboul, Watmore and obviously Kirchhoff, who came off injured. Two weeks gives us a great opportunity to get people fit. Seb Larsson is making his way back.’

Sunderland’s next game is on the 27th of February at West Ham United.
