Following the news earlier in the day about a deal between Sunderland and AC Milan for striker Fabio Borini, that has now been confirmed by the club.

A statement on the Official Site within the last hour confirmed that the deal was genuine, but it was initially a loan move with a view to a permanent deal later on.

Sunderland obviously don’t confirm what that buy clause would be financially, so the earlier speculation of a sum around £5.3million remains up in the air and whilst AC Milan say the ‘obligation’ is to buy permanently it’s not said whether that clause comes into play based on number of games played or just an option in January and next summer.

Last season, having missed three months with injury, Borini scored twice in 26 appearances for us as we failed to avoid the drop into the Championship but many fans will have some fond memories from his first loan spell with us especially.
