Sam Allardyce has been hoping to land the defender for some time, he has even been out to witness the player in action for himself over the last month.

Now the French club have confirmed that they have accepted an offer my by Sunderland and hope to complete the deal very shortly.

According to the Shields Gazette, Kone flew into England yesterday and held talks with Sunderland and it looks like a deal could be done before the weekend.
