Dean Whitehead is out for at least six months. The Sunderland captain`s injury is worse than first feared. It is believed to be a cruciate injury and he therefore needs an operation.

Roy Keane told the official site “It`s a bitter blow for Deano and for us. We are missing his leadership qualities and his presence.”

Oh no in my opinion this is a big blow for us to lose someone of Deano`s ability. There are however rumours that Keano is looking to strengthen the midfield department in Deano absence.

We are been linked with Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy and Celtics midfielder Thomas Gravesen.
