Sunderland lined up against Hull City in Albufeira with new signing Marcos Angeleri in the right back position. Alongside him was the unfamiliar face of Kenwyne Jones at centre half as Steve Bruce tried some new tactics.

Campbell, who still receives stick from the Hull fans after he joined us rather than them, shoved the abuse right back at the Tiger fans by scoring all the goals in under 35 minutes.

Steve Bruce commented on Campbell’s wonderful display by saying on the official website: ‘He was electric and what did he get? Four in thirty five minutes? It was a terrific performance.’

Campbell has now got five goals in two games during the Albufeira Cup and is looking brilliant before the season starts.

Titus Bramle did not play due to still receiving treatment on his injured foot. It is reported that he should be able to make his Sunderland debut against Leicester City next weekend.
